Made for Big Bird?

This was my first and unfortunately last foray into Darn Tough’s “Over-the-calf” style socks. I say this as a Darn Tough fan, but unless you have legs like Sesame Street’s Big Bird I can’t see them working. The XXL’s are supposed to fit 15 - 17 shoe sizes. I wear a 17 in a medium width. Trying these on I had trouble getting my feet past the calf section of the socks. Once on the footbed fit fine and was comfortable. Unfortunately there was no way these would come up over the calves. They wouldn’t even stretch enough to get past the bottom narrow portion of my calves. There was almost no stretch to this section of the socks. You would literally have to have no calves at all to get these up. Very strange for a sock that is sold on a site for big feet and fit people up to a size 17. Otherwise, the construction was typical Darn Tough so I'll throw them two stars.
