Not an accurate fit.

He normally wears a size 17 medium which is what I thought I was getting. My son loved them, but too large and way too wide

The Ariat Big Rig Chelsea is only made in Wide and Extra Wide widths. If your son needs a medium width, we can definitely suggest some other styles.
